CRAB ISLAND TVET A SPECIAL EVENT: NAMING OF SCHOOL BLOCKS AFTER FORMER HEAD TEACHERS ON 9TH MAY 2022
A special event organised by Crab Island TVET Foundation to honour the former heads of Crab Island Secondary School from 1958 – 1998 at the newly revived and transformed Crab Island TVET Centre on Monday, 9 May, 2022. Honourable Ousman Sillah, founder/chairman of Crab Island TVET foundation welcomed and acknowledged the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Coordinator, MRC Holland Foundation, Project Manager Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) Coordinator,Turkish Coordinating and Cooperation Agency (TiKA) Esteemed members of the families of the late heads of Crab Island Secondary, Upskill eLearning UK/Gambia in partnership, School Distinguished guests, Administrative staff of Crab Island School, Past and present Teachers, Past and present Students, parents, all communities, supporters, friends & families, ladies and gentlemen in attendance. In his statement honourable said the Board of Trustees and Management of the newly revived and transformed Crab Island Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Centre, the precursor of Crab Island Secondary now a modern School, have resolved to remember these illustrious former heads of the School by preserving their legacy. We have decided to honour and celebrate the lives of eight successive heads of the former Crab Island Secondary School namely Mr. Arthur Cates, Alh. Maxtarr Samba Aliyu Sillah (Master), Mr. Charles G. Dixon, Alh. AEWF Badji (Kama), Mr. James M. B. Abraham, Alh. Kekoto Maane, Mrs. Awa Jow Auber and Mr. Ebrima Ousseynou (Pa) Faal, all of blessed memory. All of them are Gambian nationals except Mr. Dixon, a British brought by the then colonial administration.
